Our Story

Mars Is Watching, out of Montclair, NJ, is a collaboration between vocalist Rob Osborne, guitarist Rod Marsden, bassist Anthony Ruggiero and drummer Mark “Drummer” Albano.  Mars Is Watching’s music ranges from angular and jagged guitar driven indie rock to in your face power pop, always framed by sardonic lyrics and a somewhat skewed view of life.

Rod and Rob had been friends for several years but started putting words to music in 2014.  The two started recording demos in a home studio and playing out as a duo. While looking for a strong rhythm section, the two fully immersed themselves in the writing process, refining their sound and scope.  They met drummer Craig Teicher in 2018 and promptly released their first album, “Fattening Frogs for Snakes,” in July of that year on all download and streaming platforms.  The recordings resonate with power, hooks and melody.  Shortly after the release of the album, Craig had to depart the band, but a mutual friend introduced Rod and Rob to Anthony.  Mark arrived on the scene mid-2019 after a long search for the right drummer.  Since that time, Mars Is Watching has played various venues in NYC and NJ.  The band plans on getting back into the studio in early 2020 to record their next album.
